romy and michele's high school reunion (david mirkin, 1997)

Entertaining enough look at high school (and life after) that is like a less mean-spirited Heathers. Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow are excellent as the titular best friends who were bullied in high school, not truly appreciating their own value, who discover truths about life at their ten-year reunion. Janeane Garofalo and Alan Cumming head a nice supporting cast. It may say more about me than about the movie that I prefer the bite of Heathers.
What an interesting two movies to name together. I wouldn't think Heathers when I see this. I guess one if from my high school days and the other my late 20s, and so there's that. But they kind of are different kinds of end goals, no? I like Heathers more, too, if we're comparing.

I was thinking of the "in crowd" factor.

I always think of this film as part of a double bill with Grosse Pointe Blank. Love both of them.
Have you seen the new TV Time Bandits, with Lisa Kudrow as the nominal and predictably pretty ineffectual leader of the bandit crew (somehow they never get away with anything except the occasional vase)? Some laugh out loud moments so far.

I haven't watched Grosse Pointe Blank in a long time. I need to revisit it.
