chromecast: day two
Wednesday, August 14, 2013
I managed to run the audio through my receiver. I don’t think I’m getting full-blown surround … I had to hook it up to an analog outlet on the TV … but it’s better than nothing.
And that will likely be my last Chromecast post until they add some apps or something.
I like my Chromecast a lot, although mainly for listening to audio via my TV sound bar rather than from my computer speakers. I've used it for rdio.com but more importantly for audio on Youtube. I've listened to more on YouTube in 2 days than I had in 2 months.
I own two Roku's but mostly use them for Netflix and MLB. And I much prefer to select and control all this from a browser with a keyboard rather than with a hard-to-use remote.
Only two issues so far: it doesn't allow streaming from iTunes (which of course is not browser-based) and the condensed version of mlb.net games had some video stuttering.
