smith-rubio family xmas update, 9th annual edition

Here it is, the always-anticipated attempt by this blog to act in a socially appropriate manner during the holidays. I feel a bit odd writing this today … DADT has been repealed, which is great news, and the DREAM Act has been shot down, which is not great news (one day, some historian will write a book about the last two years and call it Win Some, Lose Some). But the baby Jesus and Santa Claus wait for no one, so …

Alfred Hitchcock always made his “sneak” appearance early in his movies, because everyone was waiting for it and he didn’t want the audience distracted. In the same way, I am obliged to update you on Spot:

His incontinence is behind him, thank goodness, but he’s been a bit depressed lately, as his favorite teevee show, Terriers, was cancelled.

Robin took a vacation to Asia, staying in Singapore and Japan while visiting some of her favorite little tykes. Being away from her husband offered her a chance to think about our relationship. She is now living with a male stripper from Tokyo.

Look, I’m just stalling. Plenty of stuff happened this year, including weddings and new jobs and the like. But 2010 will be remembered for one thing and one thing only. If you want to know how the year went for the Smith-Rubio clan, for Neal and Sonia and Sara and me, well:

Merry Xmas. Seriously.
