It actually happened last night, but by the time I caught up with it here in Nerja, it was today/my birthday, so I'll consider it a present for me. I'll leave it to you to hunt it down via Google, or just by going to the Tonight Show web site. Yes, the moment we've all been waiting for finally arrived: the first Tonight Show appearance of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog!
It was a pretty good piece, but the part that seemed especially sent my way came at the end, when two of my very favorite things in the world came together for the first time. You see, the idea for the piece was that Triumph attended Bonnaroo in order to apply his special reporting skills to the event. And we all know who played at this year's Bonnaroo, right?
Yes, it's true. At the end of the piece, we got actual footage of Triumph, up front in the audience, singing along into the microphone as Bruce Springsteen performed "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out." A moment to treasure for a lifetime, and I saw it on my 56th birthday.
