oscar run xiv: the illusionist

Not much to say about this one. It got a nomination for cinematography that is well-deserved, and the plot keeps your attention, although the film drags at times. But the whole thing is much ado about nothing … the romance isn’t romantic enough, the intrigue isn’t intriguing enough, leaving us with Edward Norton’s illusions, which are indeed entrancing, but which aren’t enough to carry the movie. Worth seeing, but that’s as far as I’d go.
