What a great day it was! I’ve often told the story of how my brother David and his then-wife Bonnie took me to a Giants-Braves doubleheader in the summer of 1978. I hadn’t been to a game for many years. We had a great time, and I rediscovered my love of the game.
Today, I went to the Giants game with my brother-in-law Paul, my brother Geoff, and David. David has been disabled for some time now, and he had never made it to China Basin to see the Giants. But he decided this would be the year. It took a lot of willpower … I’m not sure about the exact time, but I think it took almost two hours to get to the game. But he was in great spirits as we traveled along the embarcadero to the park, and once we entered the yard, it was like he was a kid again. Here he is, with Geoff, who is in the Giants cap:
Wouldn’t you know, the game went into extra innings. The Giants won in the bottom of the 11th, the perfect end to a perfect return to the ball park for my brother.
